The sheep concept is integral to the spa.

De Oude Kraal Country Estate and Spa is based on a 5th generation Merino sheep farm  established in 1885. The sheep farm forms an integral part of our daily life and we wish to include our guests in the farming calendar and  the sheep related activities where ever possible.

The Merino sheep theme is pervasive throughout our spa and is evident in all aspects of the décor, treatment rooms, treatments names, textures and colour scheme.

The Merino is an breed of sheep prized for its wool and Merinos are regarded as having the finest and softest wool of any sheep.  During sheering time the guests  have the opportunity to view the sheering process first hand. A perfect way to view the  herds of sheep peacefully grazing is to enjoy a guided horse ride on the farm for a panoramic view of farm life unspoilt by urban development and to experience pure harmony.  Nothing warms the heart more, than seeing the spring time lambs frolicking in the grass while the ewes watch patientl.
